Decibel Meter — Sound Meter measures ambient sound levels on your device. This policy explains what the app accesses, what it stores, and what our advertising partner may collect. We do not require an account and we do not operate a server that receives your measurements.
The app requires microphone permission to calculate sound pressure levels. Audio is analysed in real time on your device to derive a decibel value. No audio is recorded, saved, transmitted or uploaded — the microphone signal is processed and immediately discarded. You may deny or revoke the permission at any time in Android Settings; the app will simply be unable to measure.
Saved sessions — name, date, duration and min / average / max values — are stored only in the app's local storage on your device. They are not synced, backed up to us, or shared. Deleting a session, clearing history, or uninstalling the app removes this data permanently.
The app displays advertisements served by Google AdMob. To deliver and measure ads, AdMob may collect and process device and usage information, including your Advertising ID, IP address, device model and operating system, coarse location derived from IP, and ad interaction events. This processing is carried out by Google as an independent controller under its own policies.
You can reset or delete your Advertising ID, and opt out of ad personalisation, in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads. Where required by law, the app requests your consent before personalised ads are shown, and you can change that choice at any time from the app's privacy settings.
Google's practices are described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Microphone audio and your saved measurements are never used for advertising and are never shared with our advertising partner.
If crash and performance reporting is enabled by Google Play or the app's SDKs, anonymous technical data such as crash traces, device model and OS version may be collected to keep the app stable. This data does not identify you and contains no audio or measurement content.
The app is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data through the advertising partner, contact us and we will assist in addressing it.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict processing of your personal data, and to object to it or withdraw consent. Because measurements stay on your device, you can exercise deletion directly by clearing history or uninstalling the app. For data held by the advertising partner, use the Android ad controls above or contact us.
If this policy changes, the revised version will be published here with a new effective date, and material changes will be highlighted in the app.
